Surveying Degrees are offered by the University of New South Wales and the University of Newcastle. There is not a Surveying degree course in the ACT at present.

The Faculty of Engineering and Surveying provides a flexible off campus education. They offer courses from Associate Degree level through to the post graduate level including the Master of Spatial Sciences of graduate Diploma in Geomatic Studies.

In order to protect the integrity of our land tenure system and the legal determination of boundaries, all definitions of boundary positions and preparation of the supporting legal documents are required by law to be carried out by Registered Surveyors.
If you wish to undertake boundary (cadastral) surveys you will need to complete a degree and be registered by a government surveyors board. For further information on registration in New South Wales visit the web site of the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information (BOSSI) who are responsible for the registration of surveyors in NSW & ACT (see below).

Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT)
CIT offers Diploma & Advanced Diploma courses. The course at the CIT provides training for careers as a survey operations team leader, Geographic Information System (GIS) technician, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) technician.
